UDG's own figures describe a 4.9 kg backpack whose main compartment, 73.3 x 50.1 x 10.2 cm inside, takes controllers such as the DDJ-REV7, DDJ-FLX10 or Prime 4+, with a side sleeve for a laptop up to 19 inches. Buy it when your controller is on UDG's fit list.

What it is

The Urbanite MIDI Controller Backpack Extra Large is the biggest of UDG Gear's three Urbanite controller backpacks, after the Medium and the Large, and UDG launched it in January 2020 (UDG Gear). It carries one full-size controller or all-in-one system in the main compartment, which measures 73.3 x 50.1 x 10.2 cm inside and has adjustable foam inserts to hold the unit in place. Outside it measures 76.3 x 53.1 x 22.5 cm, and it weighs 4.9 kg empty (UDG specifications).

UDG's fit list names the AlphaTheta DDJ-GRV6, the Pioneer DJ DDJ-REV7, DDJ-REV5, DDJ-FLX10, XDJ-RX3 and XDJ-RX2, the Denon DJ Prime 4+, SC LIVE 4 and MCX8000, the Akai MPC XL and the Roland DJ-808. It also lists the discontinued Prime 4 and XDJ-RX.

A side-entry compartment takes a laptop up to 19 inches, and two front pockets hold headphones, hard drives, cables and accessories. The exterior is water-repellent laminated 600D polyester with bottom guard fabric, and UDG describes a four-method carrying system with a carry handle and a padded shoulder strap besides the backpack straps (UDG release sheet).
