Status, October 2026: discontinued. Denon DJ has dropped the PRIME 4 from its Standalone DJ Systems lineup, which now shows the PRIME 4+ and PRIME 4 G2; the original's product page is still online.
What it is
The PRIME 4 is a four-deck standalone DJ system from Denon DJ, released in January 2019 (Denon DJ product page). It runs Engine OS on a multicore processor, so it plays without a laptop.
Music comes from four USB-A ports, an SD card slot and a bay under the panel for a 2.5-inch SATA drive, which you buy and fit yourself. Built-in Wi-Fi and an Ethernet port stream from Beatport LINK, Beatsource LINK, SoundCloud GO+ and TIDAL and read Dropbox. Tracks are prepared in Engine DJ on a computer, and the unit also plays rekordbox-prepared USB and SD media. Over USB it unlocks Serato DJ Pro as a controller, and VirtualDJ supports it with a paid licence.
The 10.1-inch multi-touch screen shows waveforms and the library. Each deck has a 6-inch capacitive jog wheel with a 2.2-inch colour display and an RGB light ring, plus eight performance pads for hot cues, loops, rolls and slicer. The four-channel mixer has 3-band EQ and gain per channel, sweep FX, post-fader effects taken from the X1850 Prime club mixer, and two mic channels with their own EQ and echo. StagelinQ connects SoundSwitch and Resolume for lighting and video.
Inputs are two line and two phono/line pairs on RCA and two XLR/1/4" combo mic inputs. Outputs are master on XLR and RCA, booth and zone on XLR, and 1/4" and 3.5 mm headphone jacks. The zone output carries deck 4 or the master to a second room. It measures 728.47 x 496.82 x 103.63 mm and weighs 9.7 kg. The box holds a display cover and cleaning cloth, a power cable, a USB 3.0 cable, drive mounting screws, a software download card and the guides.
