A roomy, weatherproof rolltop pack for a full-size controller; the main compartment is unpadded, so add a case.

The Internet’s Opinion

From 1 professional review and 28 owner reviews: not much evidence yet.

Amazona's test and Thomann owners agree it is a roomy, weatherproof backpack that takes a full-size controller, a laptop and cables. The reservations are an unpadded main compartment that needs a case for the controller, its bulk when full, and a few reports of seams, zips or a strap giving way.

Our take

Rory TassellWritten from the sources on this page, not from a loan unit.

The evidence is thin: one professional review, from Amazona, and 28 Thomann owner reviews. They agree it takes a full-size controller, a laptop and cables and keeps out rain. Eight of them say the main compartment is unpadded, so the controller needs its own case, and four report seams, zips or a strap giving way. Buy it for a big controller you already carry in a case; skip it if you want padding and dividers.

What it is

Status, November 2026: current. Magma still lists the Rolltop Backpack III.

What it is

The Rolltop Backpack III is a waterproof tarpaulin backpack with one large main compartment that closes with a roll-down top. Unrolled, the top adds 24 cm: Magma gives the inside as 51–70 × 32 × 19 cm and the weight as 1.7 kg (Magma product page). A laptop up to 17 in goes in a zippered side-access compartment in the back panel, two front pockets have water-repellent zips, and the straps include a chest strap and hip belt. Magma rates it hand-luggage compatible up to a height of 56 cm.

Magma's fit list runs to full-size controllers: the Pioneer DDJ-SX3/SX2, DDJ-RX, DDJ-1000, DDJ-800, DDJ-400, DDJ-SB3 and DDJ-SR2, the AlphaTheta DDJ-GRV6, the Native Instruments Kontrol S4 MK3 and S8, the Denon MC-7000, the Numark NS6 and Mixtrack Pro III, and the Roland DJ-808 and DJ-505, among others, plus 12 in vinyl.

The main compartment has no padding. Amazona's test strongly advises a case that fits the controller, and found units the size of a Numark NS7 or Pioneer XDJ-RX too tight. Thomann owners repeat the point about padding, and four sources, Amazona's test unit among them, report a seam, zip or strap giving way.
