What it is
The M6 USB is a four-channel DJ mixer from Numark, announced at Musikmesse in March 2010 (Numark product page). Numark's line of club-style mixers also includes the two-channel M2 and the M4.
Each of the four channels has an input selector, gain, a three-band EQ, a cue button and an LED level meter. Two RCA phono inputs, with a grounding terminal, take turntables, and four RCA line inputs take CD players, samplers or audio interfaces. A dedicated XLR mic channel has its own gain and three-band EQ, and its talkover setting drops channels 1 to 4 to -12 dB; channel 4 takes a second microphone on a 1/4" jack. The crossfader is replaceable and has slope control, and any channel can be assigned to either side of it.
The USB port is class compliant, so it needs no driver on Mac, Windows or iOS. It sends the record mix to the computer and plays computer audio on channel 3, one stereo pair each way. On Windows, Numark suggests the free ASIO4ALL driver if latency is too high.
Outputs are a balanced XLR master, an RCA master, an RCA booth output with its own level, an RCA record output and a 1/4" headphone jack with a cue mix control and a split cue switch. A switch on the back sets the mains voltage. It measures 321 x 362 x 102 mm and weighs 4.4 kg. The box holds the mixer, a power cable, a USB cable, the quickstart guide and a safety and warranty booklet; audio cables are not included.
