The Internet’s Opinion

From 8 professional reviews: a fair amount of evidence.

Reviewers agree it is a very light 14-inch laptop with one of the best keyboards, an excellent OLED option, unusually good speakers, quiet fans and a much easier interior to repair; the reservations are a high price, basic integrated graphics with little speed gain over the Gen 13, and shorter battery life with the OLED screen.

Our take

Rory TassellWritten from the sources on this page, not from a loan unit.

All eight professional reviews recommend it: they agree it is very light, has one of the best laptop keyboards, unusually good speakers and quiet fans, and is easier to repair than earlier models. The reservations are the price and basic graphics with little speed gain over the Gen 13; no owner reviews were read. Buy it if your DJ or production software keeps you on Windows, and choose the memory at purchase, since it is soldered.

What it is

Status, November 2026: current. Lenovo sells the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 Aura Edition in models you configure at order.

What it is

The X1 Carbon Gen 14 Aura Edition is Lenovo's flagship 14-inch business laptop, announced in January 2026 with Intel's Core Ultra Series 3 processors: 8-core Core Ultra 5 and 7 chips with Intel Graphics, and 16-core Core Ultra 7 H chips outside North America; the Core Ultra X7 versions are not covered here. Memory is 16, 24, 32 or 64 GB, soldered to the board and chosen at purchase; the single M.2 SSD goes up to 2 TB and can be replaced. It has three Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB-A 5 Gbps port, HDMI 2.1 and a 3.5 mm headphone and microphone jack, with the HDMI, two Thunderbolt ports and the jack on the left and the third Thunderbolt port and the USB-A on the right (Lenovo). A controller with a USB-A cable plugs straight in; a second USB-A device needs a hub or a USB-C cable. The battery is 58 Wh and the weight starts at 0.977 kg (Lenovo PSREF).

Notebookcheck usually could not hear the fan under light work, measured up to 39 dB(A) under full load, and got almost 24 hours in its Wi-Fi test with the IPS screen against about 13.5 hours with the OLED. Five reviews call it expensive, and five note basic graphics and little speed gain over the Gen 13. It meets the Windows requirements of rekordbox, Traktor, Ableton Live, FL Studio and Serato DJ Pro, though Serato's high-performance tier asks for dedicated video memory this laptop lacks.
