The Internet’s Opinion

From 16 professional reviews: a fair amount of evidence.

Reviewers agree it is a very thin and light 16-inch laptop with an excellent OLED screen, a full set of ports including USB-A and a full-size SD reader, good speakers and long battery life in most tests, with fans that stay quiet outside Performance mode; the reservations are the price, integrated graphics, little speed gain over the 2024 model and soldered memory.

  • rekordboxListed CPU

rekordbox 7.2.19 lists Windows 10 and 11 and AMD Ryzen 1000 series or later processors with AVX2, which Notebookcheck lists for the Ryzen AI 9 465; it asks for 8 GB of memory and 16 GB for Stems and Groove Circuit, so choose 16 GB or more Manufacturer spec sheet (AlphaTheta (rekordbox system requirements)), checked 2026-11-05

  • Serato DJ ProRecommended tier

Serato DJ Pro 5.0.0's recommended specification for Windows is Windows 11, a 6th-generation Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 3000 series or higher with AVX, and 8 GB; its high-performance tier, for low-latency scratching, three or more decks or Serato Video, also asks for 2 GB of dedicated video memory, which this laptop's integrated Radeon graphics don't have Manufacturer spec sheet (Serato (system requirements)), checked 2026-11-05

  • Traktor Pro 4Meets the minimum

Native Instruments asks for Windows 11 with the latest service pack, an Intel Core i5 or equivalent processor and 4 GB of memory Manufacturer spec sheet (Native Instruments (Traktor Pro 4 system requirements)), checked 2026-11-05

  • Ableton Live 12Meets the minimum

Ableton asks for Windows 10 (22H2) or Windows 11 (22H2 or later), a 5th-generation Intel Core i5 or an AMD Ryzen processor with AVX2, 8 GB of memory and about 6 GB of disk, and recommends ASIO-compatible audio hardware Manufacturer spec sheet (Ableton (Live minimum system requirements)), checked 2026-11-05

  • FL StudioAMD, so supported

Image-Line lists FL Studio 26.1.7 for Windows 10 or 11 on Intel and AMD processors with 4 GB of memory and 4 GB of disk, and recommends 8 to 16 GB and an SSD; it does not support Windows on ARM, which doesn't apply to this AMD machine Manufacturer spec sheet (Image-Line (FL Studio download page)), checked 2026-11-05

You’ll also need

  • A USB hub or USB-C cablesOne USB-A port

There is one USB-A port beside two USB4 (USB-C) ports, so a controller and an audio interface that both use USB-A cables need a hub, or a USB-C cable for one of them Manufacturer spec sheet (ASUS (Zenbook S 16 UM5606 tech specs, UM5606GA column)), checked 2026-11-05

  • An audio interfaceFor production

Ableton recommends ASIO-compatible audio hardware on Windows for the best audio performance; the laptop's own output is a headphone/microphone combo jack Manufacturer spec sheet (Ableton (Live minimum system requirements)), checked 2026-11-05

Our take

Rory TassellWritten from the sources on this page, not from a loan unit.

Fifteen of sixteen professional reviews recommend it: a 1.5 kg 16-inch laptop with an excellent OLED, USB-A, HDMI and a full-size SD slot, and long battery life in most tests. The reservations are the price, integrated graphics and soldered memory, and the fans get loud in Performance mode; no owner reviews were read. Buy it if you need Windows on a big screen, choose the memory at purchase, and check audio latency before the return window closes.

What it is

Status, November 2026: current. ASUS lists the Zenbook S 16 (UM5606GA) with the Ryzen AI 9 465 on its spec pages for the US, the UK and other markets.

What it is

The Zenbook S 16 (UM5606GA) is ASUS's thin 16-inch laptop for 2026, announced in January with AMD's Ryzen AI 400 processors; this page covers the 10-core Ryzen AI 9 465 with Radeon graphics. Memory is 16, 24 or 32 GB, soldered on board and chosen at purchase; storage is a single replaceable M.2 SSD of 512 GB to 2 TB. The left side has HDMI 2.1, two 40 Gbps USB4 ports and a 3.5 mm headphone and microphone jack; the right side has a full-size SD card reader and one 10 Gbps USB-A port (ASUS). A controller with a USB-A cable plugs straight in; a second USB-A device needs a hub or a USB-C cable. The battery is 83 Wh and the weight 1.5 kg.

Notebookcheck measured about 50 dB(A) under load in Performance mode, against at most 38.1 dB(A) in Standard and 29.6 dB(A) in Whisper, heard no other electronic noises, and found slight limitations for real-time audio in its latency test. Battery results range from 10 hours 10 minutes at Trusted Reviews to almost 18 hours at Noticias3D, both in PCMark 10. It meets the Windows requirements of rekordbox, Traktor Pro 4, Ableton Live, FL Studio and Serato DJ Pro, though Serato's high-performance tier asks for dedicated video memory this laptop lacks.
