Mackie's new 1,400 W 18-inch sub for the Thumpv4 range; too new for reviews, and its 28 Hz claim is disputed.

The Internet’s Opinion

From 1 professional review and 3 owner reviews: not much evidence yet.

Too new to call: the one professional review of the Thumpv4 series rates it as solid, well-priced entry-level gear but disputes Mackie's low-frequency claims, and three Thomann owners praise deep, simple bass.

Our take

Rory TassellWritten from the sources on this page, not from a loan unit.

The Thump18Sv4 is too new to call. The one professional review, Nick Spinelli's video on the Thumpv4 series, rates the range as solid, well-priced entry-level gear but calls Mackie's low-frequency claims lies, naming the 18-inch sub's figure; three Thomann owners praise deep bass that is simple to set up. Mackie's own sheet gives 1,400 W peak, 132 dB and high-pass modes for its Thump tops. Buy it to match Thumpv4 tops, and wait for tests before trusting the Hz figures.

What it is

Status, October 2026: current. Mackie lists the Thump18Sv4 in its Thumpv4 Series, and its own shop shows it on backorder.

What it is

The Thump18Sv4 is an 18-inch powered subwoofer from Mackie, announced on 28 April 2026 with the Thumpv4 Series of Thump12v4 and Thump15v4 loudspeakers and the smaller Thump15Sv4 subwoofer, with the subwoofers shipping from May 2026 (Mackie press release). It is the larger of the two new subs and sits above the Thump118S from the 2022 Thump Series, which Mackie still lists, and apart from the battery-powered ThumpSub GO; the three are different products, not revisions of one another.

Mackie says it combines a 1,400 W Class-D amplifier with an 18-inch woofer for 132 dB maximum SPL and 33 Hz low-frequency performance (Mackie product page); its spec sheet gives 33 Hz at -3 dB and 28 Hz at -10 dB, and 470 W RMS. The rear panel has stereo XLR inputs, stereo XLR high-pass outputs for the tops and stereo XLR full-range outputs for chaining more subwoofers, a level control, a polarity switch, stereo or mono summing and a defeatable front LED. Four high-pass modes tailor the output to Mackie's own tops: Thump 12 at 140 Hz, Thump 15 at 110 Hz, Thump GO at 150 Hz, or a variable 80 to 160 Hz for other speakers, each adding 1.4 ms of alignment delay (owner's manual).

It measures 541 x 630 x 605 mm, weighs 31.9 kg and has built-in carry handles and an M20 thread for the SPM400 pole, sold separately; Mackie says it is for floor or stage use only, with no rigging points. It draws up to 400 W from 100 to 240 V, and the box holds the subwoofer and a detachable power cord. The 15-inch Thump15Sv4 shares the amplifier and features with a 15-inch woofer, 29 Hz at -10 dB and 26 kg.
