The Internet’s Opinion

From 3 professional reviews and 16 owner reviews: a fair amount of evidence.

Evidence is thin: three professional verdicts, from a JBL dealer and two YouTube channels, and 16 owner reviews. They describe deep, powerful bass and useful onboard DSP for events; an owner who compared it side by side with a rival 18-inch sub found it distorts sooner.

Our take

Rory TassellWritten from the sources on this page, not from a loan unit.

Evidence is thin: three positive verdicts, from a JBL dealer and two YouTube channels, and 16 owner reviews. Fifteen sources describe deep, powerful bass for events, and six praise the onboard DSP and app, with EQ presets, delay and a cardioid mode. One owner who compared it side by side with Alto's TS18S found the JBL distorts sooner at high volume. Buy it to add low end beneath EON700 tops; if maximum output matters most, compare rivals first.

What it is

Status, October 2026: current. JBL Professional still lists the EON718S in its EON700 Series.

What it is

The EON718S is an 18-inch powered PA subwoofer from JBL Professional, a Harman brand (JBL Professional product page). JBL introduced it on 16 November 2021 as the subwoofer of the EON700 Series, alongside the 10-inch EON710, 12-inch EON712 and 15-inch EON715 powered speakers (JBL Professional).

An amplifier rated at 1,500 W peak and 750 W RMS drives an 18-inch woofer in an 18 mm birch plywood cabinet with a steel grille and two handles. JBL quotes a maximum SPL of 131 dB and a frequency response of 40 Hz to 120 Hz at -3 dB, reaching 31 Hz at -10 dB (spec sheet).

Two XLR-1/4" combo inputs take line-level sources such as a mixer or DJ controller, and each has an XLR loop-thru that passes the same signal on to a top speaker or another sub. Settings live on a backlit LCD or in the JBL Pro Connect app over Bluetooth Low Energy: output EQ presets for 80, 100 and 120 Hz crossovers, wall and corner placement, a parametric EQ, polarity and up to 50 ms of delay. Two subs stacked with one facing backwards can run in a Cardioid preset. Bluetooth audio streaming is on the full-range EON700 models, not the sub (user guide).

An M20 threaded pole cup on top takes a speaker pole for a full-range speaker. It measures 674 x 609 x 637 mm (H x W x D) and weighs 35.5 kg. The box holds the subwoofer, a 2 m power cable and a quick start guide.
