The Internet’s Opinion

From 4 professional reviews and 5 owner reviews: a fair amount of evidence.

All four professional reviews recommend it as the compact Traktor mixer and sound card, for the included Traktor Pro 4 licence, the 24-bit/96 kHz audio interface and a size that fits a backpack, and Thomann owners repeat the value and the build. The reservations are USB-B rather than USB-C, no play or cue controls without an X1, and 3.5 mm outputs only.

Our take

Rory TassellWritten from the sources on this page, not from a loan unit.

All four professional reviews recommend it: it bundles a full Traktor Pro 4 licence, carries a 24-bit/96 kHz audio interface for speakers and headphones, and fits a backpack beside a laptop. Thomann owners repeat the value and the solid build. The reservations are USB-B rather than USB-C, 3.5 mm outputs only, and no play or cue buttons, so most setups add an X1 MK3. Buy it to mix in Traktor on the move; it is the wrong buy for any other software.

What it is

Status, October 2026: current. Native Instruments still lists the Traktor Z1 MK2.

What it is

The Traktor Z1 MK2 is an ultra-compact two-channel mixer controller and sound card for Traktor Pro 4 (Native Instruments product page). It follows the original Z1 of 2013 and arrived a year after the Traktor X1 MK3: Native Instruments announced it on 30 October 2024 at $259, with Traktor Pro 4 included (Sound On Sound). NI's Traktor MX2, launched in October 2025, is the all-in-one alternative with jog wheels, and the Traktor Kontrol S2 MK3 the older one.

Each channel has gain, a three-band EQ that switches to a stem layer for drums, bass, instruments and vocals, a Mixer FX knob with nine effects (Filter, Reverb, Dual Delay, Noise, Time Gater, Flanger, Crush, Dotted Delay and Barber Pole), a line fader and a level meter, with a crossfader between them. Dual-layer buttons switch the two channels to Traktor's decks C and D, so it controls four decks. Three OLED displays show EQ and stem values, the Mixer FX selection and the master meter, and a light guide in the base signals a track ending or a loop. There are no jog wheels, pads or play and cue buttons: NI's setup examples add an X1 MK3 for cueing, looping and effects, or two X1s for four decks.

The built-in audio interface runs at 24-bit and up to 96 kHz with four analog output channels: a main output on RCA and on a 3.5 mm jack, and a 3.5 mm headphone output rated at 2 x 62 mW. It connects to the computer over USB-B and needs Traktor Pro 4.1 or later on macOS 13 to 15 or Windows 11. NI lists it at 129.22 x 323.22 x 55.96 mm and 754 g. Bonedo lists the box contents as the controller, a USB cable, a transport bag, safety instructions and stickers (Bonedo).
