What it is
The PTM-10 is a wireless in-ear monitor system from Phenyx Pro, on sale since August 2020 (Phenyx Pro product page). It pairs one PMT-10 metal transmitter with one, two or four PMR-1 bodypack receivers, sold as the PTM-10-1B, PTM-10-2B and PTM-10-4B bundles, and extra bodypacks are also sold on their own.
It works in the UHF band and comes in two versions, 905 to 925 MHz or 555 to 575 MHz, each with 89 selectable frequencies. Phenyx Pro says up to five systems can run together in the 900 MHz band and up to four in the 500 MHz band, with a range of up to 50 m from a 10 dBm transmitter, and quotes a frequency response of 60 Hz to 16 kHz. Neither band is on Ofcom's list of licence-free frequencies for in-ear monitors in the UK, and 470 to 702 MHz there needs a wireless microphone licence (Ofcom).
The transmitter takes a mixer's monitor sends on two balanced XLR/6.35 mm TRS combo inputs, with a pad switch for up to 12 dB of attenuation, and shows its settings on an LCD. The bodypack also has an LCD and offers stereo or mono listening, balance, EQ, a limiter and a lock function. It runs on two AA batteries, rated for 8 hours.
The PTM-10-1B box holds the transmitter, one bodypack, one pair of PME-1 earphones, the ANTK-HR1A rackmount kit, a PTA-CSE-10 carrying case, an antenna and a power adapter. The larger bundles add a bodypack and earphones for each extra listener. Audio cables from the mixer are not included.
