The Internet’s Opinion

What people praise

  • Three modes switch in the ear without taking the earplugs out
  • Clear sound at concerts, with more detail than rivals in Experience mode
  • Secure, comfortable fit that stays put, with four tip sizes
Show 2 more
  • Engage mode keeps conversation clear in a crowd
  • No batteries, app or charging

What to know first

  • Costs more than other earplugs, including Loop's own
  • The dial is tiny and easy to knock between modes; the original's firmer click was clearer
  • Sound quality drops in the strongest and lightest modes: Quiet muddies higher notes, Engage grades only fair
Show 2 more
  • The carry case is loose or flimsy
  • Fit depends on your ears: single-flange tips can make your own voice boomy, and some find the ring shape uncomfortable

Our take

Rory TassellWritten from the sources on this page, not from a loan unit.

Six of seven professional reviews recommend it: the dial changes mode in the ear, concert sound stays clear in Experience mode, and the fit stays put. The reservations: the dial is small and easy to knock, it costs more than other earplugs, and Calibre found Quiet mode muddied higher notes. No owner reviews could be read. Buy it for one earplug across conversation, gigs and commutes; for a single level, the Experience 2 is simpler.

What it is

Status, October 2026: current. Loop sells the Switch 2 on its own shop, in four colours plus McLaren Formula 1 Team and Tomorrowland editions.

What it is

The Switch 2 is a reusable earplug with a dial that selects one of three modes without taking it out, from Loop, the Belgian earplug brand. Loop launched it on 22 October 2024 as the next generation of the original Switch, with a slimmer body, new silicone ear tips and a redesigned mechanical dial (Loop press release). It is passive: no batteries, apps or charging.

Loop rates Engage mode at 20 dB SNR, for conversation; Experience at 23 dB SNR, for concerts and gigs; and Quiet at 26 dB SNR, its strongest setting (Loop product page). Loop says those rose from 17, 21 and 25 dB on the original Switch. Engage works through the acoustic channel and mesh filter, and Experience adds the membrane. Loop gives no NRR for the Switch 2 on its shop; its business site lists the original Switch at 6 to 15 dB NRR and says SNR runs 2 to 3 dB higher than NRR, so compare SNR with SNR. Loop says all its earplugs comply with EN 352-2 and ANSI S3.19-1973 and are certified PPE hearing protection.

The box holds the earplugs, four pairs of silicone tips in XS, S, M and L, and a carry case. It comes in Black and Emerald satin finishes and Gold and Silver gloss. Loop gives a two-year warranty and 100-day returns on orders from its own shop.

Among the earplugs with pages here, the Loop Experience 2 is Loop's one-level concert plug, rated 17 dB SNR; the Etymotic ER20XS and Alpine MusicSafe Pro are the other filtered earplugs; and the Minuendo Lossless are the other adjustable ones.
