What it is

The RP-7000 MK2 is a professional direct-drive DJ turntable from Reloop, released in October 2017 as the second version of the RP-7000 (Reloop product page). Reloop lists a heavier, reinforced chassis, more starting torque, refined motor control, a new height-adjustable tonearm base with anti-skating and an optional ground terminal among the MK2 changes.

A quartz-driven direct drive with a 16-pole, three-phase brushless motor has starting torque adjustable from 2.8 to 4.5 kg·cm, and the brake time adjusts from 0.2 to 6 seconds. It plays at 33⅓, 45 and 78 rpm, with pitch ranges of ±8, ±16 and ±50 %, quartz lock and reverse play. A second start/stop button suits a vertical battle setup. The platter is die-cast aluminium, 332 mm across and about 1.5 kg, lined with rubber.

The statically balanced S-shaped tonearm has a hydraulic lift, a 230 mm effective length, 0 to 6 mm of height adjustment and a universal SME connection. It takes cartridges of 3.5 to 8.5 g, or 13 to 18 g with a headshell. A movable LED target light lights the stylus.

A switchable built-in phono preamp lets the gold-plated RCA outputs carry phono or line level, so it connects to a mixer's phono or line input. The connection panel is recessed for flight cases, and the mains and RCA cables are removable. It measures 458 x 354 x 144.6 mm and weighs about 11.7 kg.

The box holds the platter, a slipmat, the LED needle light, the counterweight, a phono RCA cable with ground, a power cord and the manual. A cartridge, headshell, dust cover and 45 rpm adapter are not included; Reloop sells the dust cover separately.
