The Internet’s Opinion

From 3 professional reviews and 5 owner reviews: a fair amount of evidence.

Reviewers recommend its metal body and read speed; writes are modest, so a big export takes a while. A DJ reports it working well on CDJ-3000s, and a 2019 thread reported freezes on CDJ-850s.

Our take

Rory TassellWritten from the sources on this page, not from a loan unit.

All three professional reviews recommend its metal body and read speed, two of them from 2018 and one of the current generation in 2025. Writes are modest, so a big export takes a while: StorageReview measured 62 MB/s. A DJ on Pioneer DJ's forum reports it working well on CDJ-3000s, while a 2019 thread reported BAR Plus sticks freezing CDJ-850s. Buy it for sticks that get dropped or splashed, and try one in your own players first.

What it is

Status, November 2026: current. Samsung still lists the BAR Plus.

What it is

The BAR Plus is a USB-A stick in a metal body that Samsung rates waterproof for 72 hours at 1 m, and shock-, magnet- and X-ray-proof (Samsung product page). It uses USB 3.1 Gen 1 and is sold in 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. Samsung rates it up to 400 MB/s read, 300 MB/s on the 64 GB, and says writes are lower without giving a figure. It measures 40.05 × 15.46 × 12.02 mm, weighs about 10.9 g and carries a five-year limited warranty.

StorageReview measured 283 MB/s read and 62 MB/s write on the 256 GB, and Gough Lui found the current 512 GB kept its speed without throttling, though its body can block the port above it. On the players, a DJ on Pioneer DJ's forum says it works well on CDJ-3000s, while a 2019 thread reported BAR Plus sticks freezing CDJ-850s. The DJ USB sticks guide covers formatting and exports.
