The Internet’s Opinion

From 9 professional reviews and 99 owner reviews: plenty of evidence.

Eight of nine professional reviews recommend it, and 94 of the 99 owners read at Guitar Center and Thomann give four or five stars, for clear sound that stays clean when loud, plenty of level, flexible presets and low weight for a 12-inch speaker. The repeated reservations are less deep bass than the original K12, so DJs add a subwoofer, amplifier failures reported by one rental owner and a few buyers, a price above many rivals, harsh sound for some owners and no Bluetooth.

Our take

Rory TassellWritten from the sources on this page, not from a loan unit.

Eight of nine professional reviews recommend the K12.2, and 94 of the 99 owners read give it four or five stars, mainly for clear sound that stays clean when loud, plenty of level, useful presets and low weight for a 12-inch box. The reservations are less deep bass than the original K12, amplifier failures that made one rental owner stop recommending it, the price and no Bluetooth. Buy it as a main or monitor; add a subwoofer for dance floors.

What it is

Status, October 2026: current. QSC still lists the K12.2.

What it is

The K12.2 is a 12-inch powered loudspeaker from QSC, the largest of the three full-range K.2 Series models. QSC's K.2 FAQ calls K.2 the second generation of its K Series and sets the K12.2 against the original K12: more than twice the peak amplifier power, an LCD with adjustable crossover, delay and EQ, and 17.7 kg instead of 18.6 kg. QSC announced the range on 17 April 2017 for sale from mid-May (QSC launch news).

It pairs a 12-inch cone woofer with a 1.4-inch titanium compression driver, crossed at 2 kHz, and QSC's Directivity Matched Transition design gives 75° coverage. A Class D module rated at 2000 W peak, 1800 W for the woofer and 225 W for the driver, is cooled by a low-noise variable-speed fan. QSC rates it at 132 dB peak and 126 dB continuous at 1 m, and 50 Hz to 20 kHz at -6 dB.

The rear panel is a small three-channel mixer: two locking XLR/1/4-inch combo inputs, one switchable to mic level and one to Hi-Z for instruments, and a 3.5 mm input that sums to mono, each with its own level. Inputs A and B loop through on XLR, and a third XLR carries the mix. An LCD and a rotary encoder reach 11 factory presets such as Live, Dance and Stage Monitor, five user scenes, a four-band cut-only EQ, up to 100 ms of delay and crossover settings for QSC subwoofers. There is no Bluetooth.

The ABS cabinet doubles as a floor monitor and has straight and 7.5° down-tilt pole cups and M10 rigging points. It measures 602 x 356 x 350 mm and weighs 17.7 kg. The box holds the speaker, a locking power cord and paperwork, and registering within 30 days extends the warranty to six years.
