Status, October 2026: current. Pioneer DJ still lists the DJM-A9, with firmware ver. 1.22 released in June 2026.
What it is
The DJM-A9 is a four-channel club mixer from AlphaTheta's Pioneer DJ brand, announced on 28 February 2023 as the successor to the DJM-900NXS2 (Pioneer DJ product page). It keeps the 900NXS2's layout and sits below the six-channel DJM-V10 in the range.
Pioneer DJ fits the channel inputs with an ESS Technology 32-bit A/D converter and the master and booth outputs with 32-bit D/A converters from the same maker. The crossfader is the third-generation MAGVEL FADER. The Sound Color FX knobs gain Center Lock, which Pioneer DJ calls a world first: the knob stops at the centre so you cannot overshoot into the opposite parameter. There are 14 Beat FX, three of them new (Mobius, Triplet Filter and Triplet Roll), shown on a colour display above the X-Pad. MIC1 has 48 V phantom power for a condenser mic, a Push To Talk button, and Echo, Pitch and Megaphone effects with a dedicated reverb.
Two USB Type-B and two USB Type-C ports connect two computers at once, a Bluetooth input can be routed to any channel, and the Multi I/O section sends to and returns from an external effects unit on its own channel selector. Two independent headphone outputs have separate cue, level and mix controls, and the booth output has a two-band EQ. Built-in Wi-Fi and a LAN port serve the Stagehand iPad app, which lets a front-of-house engineer watch levels and change settings without entering the booth.
It runs rekordbox with Performance mode and DVS unlocked, Serato DJ Pro with a paid licence, and djay Pro since firmware ver. 1.22. The rear panel takes four phono, four line and four coaxial digital inputs, and outputs on XLR and RCA master, 1/4" TRS booth, RCA rec out and coaxial digital. It measures 407.4 x 458.3 x 107.9 mm and weighs 10.2 kg. The box holds a power cord, a Quick Start Guide and the Precautions for Use.
