An early read

This page rests on 2 professional reviews and 6 owner reviews, too few to be sure. It is recompiled as more reviews appear.

Best for
Weddings and events where the mic can't drop out.

You only MC now and then: the simpler 2.4 GHz sets do that.

The Internet’s Opinion

From 2 professional reviews and 6 owner reviews: not much evidence yet.

Both professional reviews of this generation are positive: Bonedo (4.5/5) and Mix, reviewing the rack-mount GLXD24R+, report clear, dropout-free transmission and a battery that lasts a full gig, and Bonedo's one complaint is that the SM58 capsule cannot be swapped. The few owner reviews at Thomann agree on reliability and sound; no complaint is repeated by two sources yet.

Our take

Rory TassellWritten from the sources on this page, not from a loan unit.

Both professional reviews of this generation recommend it: Bonedo scored it 4.5 out of 5 and Mix, reviewing the rack version, found no dropouts in hostile radio environments, and the few owners read at Thomann agree on reliability and sound. Bonedo's one complaint is that the SM58 capsule can't be swapped, and it costs much more than the 2.4 GHz-only sets. Buy it when the speeches can't fail or the room is full of Wi-Fi.

What it is

Status, November 2026: current. Shure still lists the GLXD24+ with SM58.

What it is

The GLXD24+ is a digital wireless system from Shure's GLX-D+ range: a handheld transmitter with an SM58 capsule and a GLXD4+ tabletop receiver (Shure). Shure calls it dual-band: it transmits on 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz, which gives it more room than systems on 2.4 GHz alone. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 12 hours.

Bonedo found clear, dropout-free transmission even into the next room. Mix, reviewing the rack-mount GLXD24R+, found excellent radio performance and audio with no dropouts in hostile radio environments, 12 to 14 hours per charge and about 30 m of range. The previous generation was MusicRadar's best wireless mic overall and scored 5 out of 5 at Delamar. Mobile DJs on Reddit call it fine for MCing and smaller events. It is in the wireless microphones guide.
