Our take

Rory TassellWritten from the sources on this page, not from a loan unit.

Three of four professional reviews recommend it as the simplest way to put a wireless mic into a DJ mixer: nothing to set up, under 4 ms of delay, and sound close to a cable. The repeated reservation is the battery, about five hours per charge and not replaceable, which Mixdown says may not last a big gig. Buy it for one handheld mic into a mixer, and charge it between sets.

What it is

Status, November 2026: current. Sennheiser still lists the XSW-D Vocal Set, though new stock was scarce in Europe in October 2026.

What it is

The XSW-D Vocal Set is a digital wireless mic system from Sennheiser: an XS 1 dynamic cardioid handheld mic with a transmitter, and a small receiver with a male XLR plug that goes straight into a mixer's mic input (Sennheiser). It transmits on 2.4 GHz with under 4 ms of delay, and Sennheiser quotes up to 75 m of range in optimal conditions. The set weighs 740 g.

There are no frequencies to choose: the mic and receiver pair at the press of a button. Both run on built-in batteries, which Sennheiser rates at up to five hours and which charge over USB-C in about three. Sound On Sound measured about 4 ms of delay and five hours per charge, and Delamar about 50 m of range. The battery can't be replaced, and Mixdown notes there is no case or XLR cable in the box. It is the first pick in the wireless microphones guide.
