Six Thomann owner reviews praise its light, protective build. It holds one controller and a few cables only, and the generic sizes can leave a model loose or tight. Buy it for a compact controller once UDG's fit list names yours.

What it is

The Creator Controller Hardcase is UDG Gear's lightweight case for a single controller, sampler or synth, made in four sizes. Reviews of the first range date from 2014; this page covers the current Medium MK2.

The shell is 5 mm compression-moulded EVA under a water-repellent 600D polyester cover, lined with soft fleece and egg-crate foam that cushions jog wheels, faders and buttons. It measures 48.5 x 36.0 x 12.4 cm outside and 47.0 x 34.0 x 8.4 cm inside, and weighs 1.4 kg (UDG specifications, archived). UDG lists carry handles and easy-grip zip pulls. Digital DJ Tips's 2021 review of this size also had a padded shoulder strap, which UDG's specification does not mention.

Sizes are generic rather than custom-fit. UDG's fit list and product tags for the Medium name the Denon DJ Prime Go and Prime Go+, AlphaTheta DDJ-FLX2, Numark Party Mix Live, Reloop Ready, Akai MPC Live II, Roland TR-8S and Novation Peak.

There are no pockets, so a laptop, headphones and most cables need a second bag. Digital DJ Tips fitted a Prime Go with its Decksaver cover, the power supply and two audio cables, and found that the closed case also works as a riser for the controller on a low table.
