Seven of ten professional reviews recommend it as an easy first controller: it runs rekordbox, Serato DJ Lite and djay on a phone, tablet or computer, and unlike the DDJ-200 it has its own master and headphone outputs. The reservations are what it leaves out: gain, meters, a browse knob and a mic input. Buy it to learn on or to travel with; if you expect to play out, reviewers point to the DDJ-FLX4 instead.
From 10 professional reviews and 2 owner reviews: a fair amount of evidence.

The DDJ-FLX2 is a two-channel DJ controller from AlphaTheta, the company that makes Pioneer DJ gear. AlphaTheta announced it in October 2024 as its lightest and most compact controller, and it replaces the Pioneer DJ DDJ-200 as the entry-level model. Unlike the DDJ-200, it has a built-in audio interface.
It works with rekordbox on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android, djay Pro on Mac and Windows, djay on iOS and Android, Serato DJ Lite and Traktor Play. Serato DJ Pro needs a paid licence. A computer, or an iPhone, iPad or Android device with USB-C, connects with the supplied USB-C cable, which also powers the controller. Phones without USB-C connect over Bluetooth, which carries control only: the controller then needs a USB power adapter or power bank, and the sound plays from the phone.
Each deck has a jog wheel, a tempo fader, play, cue and beat sync buttons and eight performance pads for hot cues, pad effects, beat loops and the sampler. The mixer has a three-band EQ and a colour effects knob per channel, two channel faders, a crossfader and a Smart Fader button. The outputs are a 3.5 mm master jack and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It weighs 1.2 kg, and the box holds the controller, a USB-C cable and paperwork.
