Our take

Rory TassellWritten from the sources on this page, not from a loan unit.

The Shocker FX is too new to call: Chauvet DJ listed it in May 2026, no professional review has been published, and the only owner review long enough to count, at Thomann, rates it five stars for brightness, response and weight. Chauvet DJ's figures describe 280 tri-colour LEDs in eight RGB sections plus four cool-white sections, 1,981 lumens, 8 to 43 DMX channels and 1 kg. Buy on those figures only if the price suits, and keep flash rates low in public.

What it is

Status, October 2026: current. Chauvet DJ lists the Shocker FX as a new product.

What it is

The Shocker FX is a compact party strobe from Chauvet DJ that gives strobe, wash and blinder looks from one 1 kg box (Chauvet DJ product page). Chauvet DJ describes 280 tri-colour LEDs in eight RGB sections plus four sections of cool-white LEDs, twelve controllable sections in all, with built-in effect presets that combine zone control and effect macros. Its manual is dated January 2026, Chauvet DJ's page went up in May 2026, and Thomann has sold it since July 2026. It is a different product from the warm-white Shocker 2, which Chauvet DJ sells in the US, Mexico and Canada only.

Chauvet DJ rates it at 1,981 lumens and 219 lux at 2 m, with a 97° beam and a 139° field. It runs its automated programs on its own or across linked units in master/slave mode, takes the optional IRC-6 infrared remote, and accepts 8, 18, 30 or 43 DMX channels over 3-pin XLR, so a controller or lighting software can fire it on cue.

It draws 45 W from an auto-ranging 100 to 240 V supply, and its IEC input power-links 12 units at 120 V or 20 at 230 V, through an Edison outlet on US units and an IEC outlet in the UK and Europe per the manual. It measures 260 x 82.6 x 129 mm and hangs from its bracket. The box holds the light, a power cord and a quick reference guide; the manual says to use a safety cable whenever it hangs overhead, and Chauvet DJ's optional CHS-25 VIP gear bag carries it.

Strobes have safety rules the rest of a rig doesn't: the strobe lights guide sets out the UK Health and Safety Executive's recommended flash-rate limit for clubs and public performances, which the Epilepsy Society cites as no more than four flashes a second.
