What it is
The TR-1000 is Roland's flagship drum machine, announced in October 2025 (Roland press release). It combines 16 analogue tones recreated from TR-808 and TR-909 circuits with 75 modelled ACB tones, 7 FM tones, 340 PCM tones and 2,121 samples (Roland specifications). It has ten tracks, four of them layering two sound generators, and samples in stereo at 48 kHz with time-stretch and slicing, up to 16 minutes per sample, on 64 GB of onboard memory.
The TR-REC sequencer records by step or in real time, with eight variations and four fills per pattern, per-step probability, motion recording and a song mode, and stores 2,048 patterns and kits. It is played from 16 RGB step keys, level faders and a Morph slider beside an OLED display (Roland). Each track has a filter, compressor and effect, with reverb and delay sends, master effects and an analogue filter and drive.
The back panel has a stereo mix out, a stereo FX out and ten individual outputs that double as trigger outs, a stereo input, MIDI in and two outs that also send DIN sync, trigger and CV jacks, USB-C for multi-channel audio and MIDI, and a USB-A port for flash drives and MIDI controllers. It runs from mains power, measures 486 x 311 x 125 mm and weighs 5.5 kg. It is in the drum machines guide.
