Our take

Rory TassellWritten from the sources on this page, not from a loan unit.

No professional review of this assembly was found. Of 224 Thomann owner reviews, 60 praise how flexible it is and how easily it coils, 41 value the colours for telling lines apart and 25 report no hum. The reservation is the HICON plugs: seven found a latch stiff, rough or loose, and three had an early fault. Buy it for colour-coded mic and speaker runs; for Neutrik plugs, choose the same cable as SGMF.

What it is

Status, November 2026: current. Sommer Cable still lists the Stage 22 Highflex SGHN in its premade microphone cables.

What it is

The SGHN is Sommer Cable's Stage 22 Highflex microphone cable made up with a 3-pin XLR female plug at one end and an XLR male plug at the other, sold from 0.2 to 30 m in black, blue, green, grey, purple, red and yellow (Sommer Cable product page). Two 0.22 mm² copper cores sit under a dense spiral copper shield in a soft PVC jacket 6.5 mm across, and Sommer gives the capacitance as 70 pF/m. The plugs are Sommer's own HICON XLR BASIC, not Neutrik, with silver-plated contacts, a nickel-plated metal shell and a clear ring for a label. Sommer's warranty is five years.

The female end plugs into an XLR master output, such as Master 1 on the Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX10, and the male end into a speaker or monitor such as the JBL 305P MkII; a stereo pair needs two. Of 224 owner reviews read at Thomann, 60 praise how it lies flat and coils, and 41 use the colours to trace lines on stage. Seven found the HICON latch or release button stiff, rough or loose, and two note that short lengths are measured plug tip to plug tip.
