All five professional reviews recommend it as a first controller, citing its spacious layout, good jog wheels and unusually long 100 mm pitch faders for mixing by ear. Five also call its pads, loops and touch-strip effects basic, and two of 11 Guitar Center owners report crossfader failures. Numark has moved it to its Legacy range and the Mixtrack Pro FX replaced it in 2020, so buy one only used and tested.

Status, October 2026: discontinued. Numark lists the Mixtrack Pro 3 in its Legacy range, and the Mixtrack Pro FX replaced it in May 2020, launched alongside the four-deck Mixtrack Platinum FX.

What it is

The Mixtrack Pro 3 is a two-deck DJ controller from Numark, announced at NAMM in January 2015 alongside the Mixtrack 3 (Numark). It followed the Mixtrack Pro II, and unlike the Mixtrack 3 it has a built-in 24-bit, 44.1 kHz audio interface (Numark product page).

It shipped with Serato DJ Intro, and Serato now lists it as unlocking Serato DJ Lite free, with Serato DJ Pro as a paid upgrade. It is USB class compliant, so it needs no driver on Mac or Windows, and VirtualDJ supports it with a paid licence. Numark's listed system requirements stop at macOS 10.13 and Windows 10.

Each deck has a 5-inch capacitive metal jog wheel, a 100 mm pitch fader, eight performance pads and a touch strip that controls the effects or, with Shift held, searches through the track. The mixer has three-band EQ and a filter knob per channel, cue mix and cue gain controls for the headphones, and LEDs for the master level.

The rear has an unbalanced RCA master output. The front has 1/4-inch and 1/8-inch headphone jacks and a 1/4-inch microphone input with its own gain, which goes to the master output only. It takes its power from USB, measures 55 x 23.2 x 3 cm and weighs 1.9 kg. The box holds the controller, a USB cable, a software download card, the user guide and a safety manual.
