Status, October 2026: current. Chauvet DJ still lists the Hurricane Haze 4D, with a 120 V input only.
What it is
The Hurricane Haze 4D is a water-based haze machine from Chauvet DJ, built low so it sits on a floor or hangs from truss, with an adjustable scoop that aims the haze and a fan Chauvet DJ calls discreet (Chauvet DJ product page). Chauvet DJ's page for it went up in September 2016. Chauvet DJ rates its output at 4,300 cfm, its heat-up at two minutes and its fluid use at 10 ml a minute from a 3.75 l tank, and it draws 1,120 W.
It runs from its own volume and fan-speed knobs, from the wired timer remote in the box, or over two DMX channels on 3-pin XLR with the address set on a digital display, so a controller or lighting software can fire it in time with the lights on a GigBAR Move + ILS or an Intimidator Spot 360X.
Chauvet DJ's page lists a 120 V, 60 Hz input only. Its manual covers both a 120 V model and a 230 V model, so check the voltage on the listing you buy from. It takes Chauvet DJ's HFG fluid in the US and worldwide, and HF5 or HFDJ5 in the UK and Europe. The manual says to use Chauvet fluids, that all fog and haze machines may set off smoke detectors, to drain the tank before transport, and to run cleaning fluid through it before storage.
It weighs 6 kg and measures 277 x 396 x 245 mm. The box holds the machine, a power cord, the wired timer remote, a hanging bracket with mounting hardware, a warranty card and a quick reference guide; fluid is not included. The manual says to use a safety cable whenever it hangs overhead and to leave 50 cm of ventilation around it.
