Pioneer DJ XDJ-1000 MK2

A USB-only deck with the CDJ-2000NXS2's screen and browsing, but a small step over the XDJ-1000 at a high price.

The Internet’s Opinion

From 5 professional reviews and 1 owner review: a fair amount of evidence.

All five professional reviews recommend it as a way to get the CDJ-2000NXS2's touchscreen, browsing and rekordbox workflow in a USB-only player for about half the price. The reservations are the cost of a single deck, hot cues left on the touchscreen unless a DDJ-SP1 is added, and a small step over the original XDJ-1000; owner evidence is too thin to add to that.

Our take

Tony AllenWritten from the sources on this page, not from a loan unit.

All five professional reviews recommend it: it brings the CDJ-2000NXS2's touchscreen, track filters and rekordbox workflow to a USB-only player for about half the NXS2's price. Four find it expensive for one deck, three note hot cues stay on the touchscreen unless a DDJ-SP1 is added, and two call it a small step over the XDJ-1000. Owner evidence is thin, with one review found. Buy it to prepare rekordbox sets on full-size decks; skip it as an XDJ-1000 upgrade.

What it is

Status, October 2026: current. Pioneer DJ still lists it among its DJ players.

What it is

The XDJ-1000MK2 is a USB-only DJ multi player from Pioneer DJ, announced on 25 August 2016 and on sale from that September (Pioneer DJ product page). It replaced the XDJ-1000 and takes several features from the CDJ-2000NXS2: a 7-inch full-colour touch screen, a jog wheel of the same size, and FLAC and ALAC playback.

It has no CD or SD slot. It plays MP3, AAC, WAV and AIFF, plus FLAC and ALAC up to 48 kHz/24-bit, from USB drives formatted FAT16, FAT32 or HFS+, or from rekordbox on a computer or phone connected over USB. Tracks are mainly prepared in rekordbox, a free download that exports playlists, cues and loops to the drive. On the touch screen, Track Filter narrows a search by BPM and key, Matching suggests tracks tagged in rekordbox, and a QWERTY keyboard handles search. Performance features include eight Hot Cues, Quantize, Beat Jump, Beat Sync and Beat Countdown, and a DDJ-SP1 controller, sold separately, adds pads for them.

Pro DJ Link connects up to four players and rekordbox computers over LAN to share one library. Over USB it controls rekordbox Performance mode with a Core plan or above, and Traktor Pro 3.3 or later with player firmware 1.42 or later. Audio leaves on RCA and on a coaxial digital output, and the analog and digital circuits have separate power supplies.

It measures 305 x 382.5 x 110 mm and weighs 3.7 kg. The box holds a power cord, an audio cable, a LAN cable and the quick start guide; rekordbox and the driver are downloads.
