Buy it for a small room; skip it for critical mixing in a large one.

Status, October 2026: discontinued. KRK lists the Rokit 5 G4 among its legacy products, and it announced a 5-inch ROKIT Generation Five in March 2024.

What it is

The Rokit 5 G4 is a powered two-way studio monitor from KRK Systems (KRK product page). It launched in January 2019 as the smallest of the fourth-generation Rokit line, beside the Rokit 7 G4, the Rokit 8 G4 and the three-way Rokit 10-3 G4. KRK sells it as a single speaker, so a stereo pair means buying two.

It has a 5-inch woofer and a matching tweeter, both made with Kevlar, in a cabinet with a front-firing bass port. A Class-D amplifier gives 55 W across both drivers, and a built-in brickwall limiter engages at maximum amplifier level to protect the system. KRK quotes 43 Hz to 40 kHz and a maximum of 104 dB SPL.

The rear panel has one balanced XLR/1/4-inch TRS combo input, an IEC power socket and an LCD for the DSP room tuning, where low and high EQ settings give 25 combinations starting from flat. The same screen sets input sensitivity, with 0 dB matching +4 dBu professional outputs and 11 dB matching -10 dBV consumer sources, and a standby mode that powers the speaker down after 30 minutes without signal.

KRK's free Audio Tools app for iPhone and iPad adds a spectrum analyser, a level meter, EQ recommendations and help with placement. A foam pad on the base decouples the speaker from the desk, and magnetic faceplates with grilles were sold separately. KRK pairs it with its S8.4 subwoofer for more low end.

Each speaker measures 285 x 190 x 241 mm and weighs 4.85 kg.
