Meet the YoloBox Pro. If you are DJ live streamer then this is a bit of DJ gear that you NEED! As DJing has become more popular, so too have the various methods of DJ performances. No longer is doing a gig at a nightclub or a house party the only option for an aspiring DJ.

Today, because of technology, people can get into the game without ever leaving their homes.

Yes, the live stream!

This is all thanks to live portable multi-camera streaming and how it offers a chance to live stream your music out there with only a smartphone and an internet connection.

And while there are a lot of live streaming options available, the YoloBox Pro is worth stopping and staring at.

Is the YoloBox Pro Any Good?

Yes, the YoloBox Pro is a good device for live streaming and video production. It offers a range of features that make it a versatile tool for events, conferences, webinars, and other live-streaming applications. Some of the standout features of the YoloBox Pro include its multi-camera inputs, live streaming to multiple platforms, picture-in-picture templates, comment overlays, built-in battery, video recording, and remote control capabilities.

YoloBox Pro

Meant as a way to retain portable multi-cam live streaming performance while also bringing with it some heavy-hitting features you’d normally need a dedicated setup to perform!

The YoloBox Pro Livestreaming Studio manages to be an all-around contender for some of the best features a person can get as they are putting their music out there.

While the setup isn’t much to look at, it comes with a variety of line-level audio input and output ports, several different internet options (Ethernet, 4G, & WiFi), as well as a highly-effective software that makes your live performances seamless from start to finish.

Keep on reading as below we go over all of these different features (and portable multi-camera features) so that you can decide whether the YoloBox is good enough to warrant the investment or if you’re better off waiting on something else that’s not quite as pricey.

First Impressions

When it comes to first impressions of the YoloBox Pro, as mentioned already, the YoloBox Pro doesn’t have all that going for it or really stands out as something particularly impressive. It’s an Android tablet with a lot of different ports.

The YoloBox Pro is 27 x 129 x 18 mm and is around 750 grams.

Overall, the YoloBox Pro offers a range of features that make it a powerful tool for live streaming and video production.

Its multi-camera inputs, live streaming capabilities, and picture-in-picture templates make it ideal for events, conferences, and webinars, while its built-in battery and remote control features make it a portable and convenient solution for on-the-go video production.

Build

From a build perspective, once you get your hands on the YoloBox Pro device, you pretty much immediately realize that this is way more than just some rinky-dink toy.

Physically, it feels very durable and well-made with a sense of weight to it that makes it feel like it won’t fall apart the second it’s dropped. Each of the edges is rubberized, which ensures it neither breaks when falling nor hurts anyone on accident.

The YoloBox Pro also comes with a screen protector as well as a plastic back, both of which make it smudge and dirt-free.

Going back to the different connection ports, the YoloBox Pro is pretty impressive.

The YoloBox Pro is a portable live streaming and video switcher device that can be used for various applications such as live events, sports, education, and corporate meetings. The inputs and outputs available on the YoloBox Pro are:

Inputs:

  • 4 HDMI inputs: These are used to connect up to four different video sources such as cameras, laptops, gaming consoles, and media players.
  • 1 RJ45 Ethernet port: This is used to connect the YoloBox Pro to the internet for live streaming.
  • 1 USB Type-C port: This is used to connect a laptop or desktop computer for streaming or video conferencing.

Outputs:

  • 1 HDMI output: This is used to connect a monitor, TV or projector to display the output of the YoloBox Pro.
  • 1 3.5mm headphone jack: This is used for monitoring the audio output of the YoloBox Pro.
  • 1 USB Type-A port: This is used to connect a USB drive to record the video output.
  • 1 RJ45 Ethernet port: This can be used to connect to a wired network for internet connectivity.

Setup

The setup process, while extensive, is pretty straightforward with HDMI output and HDMI inputs available. Since there are three HDMI input options, you’ll want to think about getting a multi-camera setup.

Pretty much anything with a clean HDMI “out” port will be fine, though DSLRs are a pretty tried and true option. You can also opt for a webcam as a camera alternative if you want since you’re probably going to do a bit of portable multi-cam live streaming.

The audio situation is also pretty simple. You’re just going to feed the audio out from either your mixer or DJ controller. This can be plugged into the line-in 1/8″ minijack socket port.

Physically, the device can either be set flat or attached to a stand or tripod as well as potentially be on the top of one of your multi-camera units.

There are screw mounts available to reduce the amount of “wobbling” you’ll likely have to deal with no matter what choice you decide on. Overall, the best option for us seemed to just be setting it on the table while we performed.

Features

Going a bit further into the YoloBox Pro and its setup, the unit comes with software that’s already embedded as one of its features. Not only that, but it comes with so many additional features, it’s unlikely most DJs will even be familiar with them all.

Audio Mixer

The audio mixer feature is a pretty useful inclusion and is one of the things most people that have DJed will be the most aware of and used to.

As with any other DJ mixer (either a dedicated mixer or one as part of a controller), the audio mixer on the YoloBox Pro lets you keep your music levels in their proper range.

Since your controller or mixer will have a more thorough expansion of all of these things, don’t expect it to be quite as extensive. It’ll have a limiter and volume control, but things like a compressor or EQ options aren’t come included.

If you plan to bring in a mic for speaking during your performance, you’ll be happy to know that the audio mixer has a separate option just for it.

This means you can control your mic’s volume entirely separate from the rest of your music performance, meaning you can talk at one level while having the music either louder or quieter.

USB Audio Delay

The USB audio delay feature is a pretty useful setting. As the name implies, the feature allows you to keep the audio and any video in proper sync with one another.

This is especially useful in certain situations where a video may lag behind the audio due to improper syncing or where the audio moves a second or two faster than the video. The Yolobox Pro also comes with a USB video input.

Touchscreen

This feature is arguably the most useful and extensive benefit for the unit as a whole. Obviously, as a dedicated tablet, it’s going to be touchscreen. However, that alone isn’t what makes this so useful, instead largely is the additional customizable scoreboard feature displays connected to it.

As an example, you can use the touchscreen to add overlays via your SD media card on top of other tracks. You can also build titles as well as lower third graphics directly from the unit using a variety of different colors, fonts, and styles.

The customizable scoreboard feature displays also let you add certain things, like a countdown timer, social media links & logos, and even comments from viewers as you’re performing. That last one is really cool since it’s a great way to keep your show engaging and entertaining even while people are enjoying your music.

Extensive Setting Options

The YoloBox Pro, in addition to its many port options, also comes with a pretty extensive number of setting tweaks.

You can adjust the bitrate as well as the output resolution (with resolutions going as high as 1080p) so that it properly runs for whatever platform you’re operating on as well as its bandwidth.

You can also play with the different types of transitions as well as the auto camera switching. And these are just a few of the many setting alterations available.

Optional SD Cards

The YoloBox Pro has built-in 64GB storage for storing recorded videos and other data. However, users can expand the storage capacity by using optional SD cards.

The YoloBox Pro has a built-in SD card slot that supports SD and SDHC cards up to 512GB in size

Feature Comment Overlays

Feature Comment overlays are a feature available on some live streaming platforms and video switcher devices, including the YoloBox Pro. This feature allows comments from viewers to be displayed in real time over the video being streamed.

With feature comment overlays, the comments can be displayed as a scrolling ticker at the bottom of the screen or as pop-up notifications on the video.

This feature can be useful for engaging with viewers and creating a more interactive live-streaming experience.

Picture-in-Picture Templates

These are a feature available on some video switcher devices, including the YoloBox Pro. This feature allows users to overlay one video source on top of another, creating a smaller window within the main video.

With picture-in-picture templates, users can choose from pre-set templates or create their own custom templates for how the picture-in-picture window is displayed. For example, a user may want to display a speaker’s PowerPoint presentation in a smaller window on top of their video feed during a webinar or presentation.

The YoloBox Pro comes with multiple templates to choose from, including templates with one or two smaller windows. Users can also create their own custom templates using the YoloLiv mobile app.

Logos, watermarks, rolling captions

Logos, watermarks, and rolling captions are all features available on the YoloBox Pro that can be used to enhance the visual appearance of live streams and recorded videos.

Logos can be uploaded to the YoloBox Pro and displayed as a static image in the corner of the screen during live streams or recorded videos. This feature can be useful for branding purposes and helps to identify the source of the content.

Steam Engage

Stream Engage is a feature available on the YoloBox Pro that allows users to interact with their audience during live streams. With Stream Engage, users can display live polls, quizzes, and social media feeds on the video being streamed.

The YoloBox Pro can display live polls and quizzes from platforms such as Slido and Mentimeter.

This allows users to gather feedback and engage with their audience in real time.

Users can also display social media feeds from platforms such as Twitter and Instagram, allowing viewers to see and participate in the conversation surrounding the live stream.

YoloCast Streaming Platform

The YoloLiv brand has, not only its portable multi-camera live streaming studio device but also its own live streaming platform. YoloCast operates as something not too dissimilar from Twitch or YouTube Live.

In this case, YoloCast is an even better option for DJ live streaming as it is the native platforming feature for the YoloBox Pro, giving the device more options than any of the other streaming sites out there.

YoloCast operates on a subscription basis as a web app where you can send your stream directly from the YoloBox.

Not only that but it can also be recorded and sent out to up to 15 other platforms to give you an even great reach. Outside of that, it has many other live-streaming features, including chatting with viewers, sharing highlights, and offering pre-recorded videos to run.

It’s similar to Restream, both in overall quality as well as price, with the big factor, again, being that it is more closely tied and intuitive to the YoloBox. If you are a live streamer already and on something like Restream, you may seriously want to consider switching over if you’ve liked everything about the YoloBox Pro so far.

Overall Performance

What We Like:

  • Numerous Ports: The biggest selling point for the YoloBox Pro is the extensive variety of available ports available. Rather than just having an option for a singular camera, mic, and power/USB, there are options for multiple cameras, SD media card slots, minijacks, and several others. This makes it the perfect foundation for any live streaming simply from an item availability standpoint.
  • Easy To Use: The YoloBox pro is very easy to use as well as set up. Since it’s a touchscreen tablet device, all of its features are prominently displayed and quickly accessible once connected to the different multiple camera units, mics, computers, and speakers.
  • Feature-Heavy: The tablet comes with some very useful settings & features, making it a great “all-in-one” purchase.
  • Very Intuitive: The YoloBox Pro works very intuitively, both by itself as well as with most streaming platforms, especially YoloCast.

What We Do Not Like:

  • Price: The YoloBox Pro, while a great buy in and of itself, is definitely on the pricier side of things. On its own, the tablet is going to run you upwards of $800. If you get it alongside the YoloCast platform subscription and a quality webcam, you can easily find yourself putting out over $1,000 when everything is said and done. This makes it a serious investment for people that are planning to get into the live-streaming world rather than just playing around.
  • Lack Of Cameras: One of the bigger drawbacks here is that the YoloBox Pro doesn’t come with cameras on either its front or back face. This is a shame since it pretty much guarantees that you’ll need to spend additional funds on either a separate camera or an additional webcam. Either way, don’t expect that this will be the only thing you’re getting if you want to start performing.

Going Live

As with most of the other aspects of the YoloBox, going live as well as recording are both very easy processes. Once you’re set up to the internet – either via Ethernet connection, connected to WiFi, or using a data SIM card, as well as using an SD card for more data – you simply need to decide on which of the two you want to focus on from the main screen and you’re good to go.

For those live streaming from the main screen, you’ll see your broadcasting (top left), and any others that are logged in (bottom left), with all of your panel control features displayed on the right. If you want, you can push everything else out and have it as a “full screen” display.

If you’re planning to record, all you’re going to have to do to get started is press the “record” button. For planning to go live, there are a few different options for you to choose from.

The first is by using any of the built-in servers like Twitch, YouTube Live, and Facebook Live).

The second method is by setting up your own streaming service through RTMP. The third option is by using YoloCast, YoloLiv’s very own multicast platform. As mentioned earlier, this is a great option since the device runs native to the streaming software, making them pretty much perfect for one

Of the three options, YoloLiv’s YoloCast is probably the best thanks to its ease of use and synergy compared to going to the other third-party platforms.

YoloBox Pro: Final Verdict

While the price will always be a factor with these higher-end devices, the YoloBox Pro tries its hardest to make it worth every penny.

On top of the crazy number of ports available, the YoloBox Pro portable multi-cam unit has a lot of great multi-camera features to play with while also being super intuitive and easy to utilize.

And when you consider that it’s tied so heavily to the rest of the YoloLiv brand and its subsidiaries, like YoloCast, it becomes clear that this isn’t just a great initial buy, but something that is a real investment in your DJ future.

Simply put, if you’re someone that plans on live-streaming, especially a multi-camera live stream, then YoloBox Pro is as close to a must-buy as there can be.
