UDG has made some pretty great and useful DJ equipment tools throughout its history, and easily one of its most impressive inclusions is none other than its UDG Ultimate DIGI Backpack.
More accurately known as the Ultimate DIGI Backpack, the DIGI Backpack is made for the DJ that doesn’t plan to be in one place for any particular amount of time.
Now, when it comes to traveling as a DJ, that can mean a lot of things for a lot of people. For some, it could just be a series of gigs over the course of a weekend, while for others, traveling could be moving cross country, hitting different DJ spots throughout the US or Europe.
How Good is the UDG Ultimate DIGI Backpack?
Regardless of what your stance is, we found that the UDG Ultimate DIGI Backpack certainly holds up and passes the resilience, quality, and style test; all with flying colors.

UDG Ultimate DIGI Backpack: First Impressions
Starting off with first impressions, the UDG Ultimate DIGI Backpack does have a cool understated look about it that is impossible to ignore.
Honestly, when you’re pulling it out of the box, it looks like a high-quality backpack that you’d use for schoolwork (or just about anything).
I will admit that I’m partial to the all-black casual look, and while I’d normally argue that others may find it a problem, its super colorful internal body is pretty vibrant enough to win those guys over all on its own. It has a strong orange color that is more than just a fun look.
It also makes spotting stray cables or pieces much easier than in most other bags that have the same all-black material.
Build
From a build perspective, the DIGI Backpack is made from really good quality material. It can handle a wide variety of different materials without too much of an issue.
For example, things like water or sand, which normally can be a serious problem for backpack bags, aren’t even able to cut through the initial mesh.
In addition, the backpack uses its mesh and foam material to allow proper ventilation while also ensuring the weight is more evenly distributed. This is also true for the back of the bag, though it uses more padding to have a fuller look and added comfort.
This comfort and usability are true even if the bag is filled to the brim and made a lot heavier. It may feel heavier but it won’t feel uncomfortable, especially compared to other bags that can result in shoulder chafing,
- Great Quality Build
- TONS Of Pockets
- Waterproof
- Super Versatile
- Maybe too large for some DJs

A Deeper Look
Now taking a look at what the ultimate bag has to offer in terms of its features, here the UDG Ultimate DIGI Backpack still makes its importance known.
Waterproof
One of the first things you’ll notice here is that the UDG Ultimate DIGI Backpack is built to be waterproof. This is thanks to a waterproof nylon material that comes with several large zipper zips that protect every major area of the bag from dealing with any water.
Storage Compartments
In addition to the various zipper options, the backpack comes with an assortment of different pockets and storage areas. For example, three of the interior pockets are meant to accommodate phones, music devices, and headphones. This makes them great holding areas no matter what you’re dealing with outside of your bag.
Pockets
The most clearly seen of the bag’s laptop compartment is the one held at its back. There, the compartment has three individual areas. One is regarded as ideal for airport security, allowing you to open it from your bag without needing to take anything else out or open the main bag.
There is also a second storage pocket that has several felt dividers in place to keep your tools and gear in their respective places. It also has a black bubble layer on its rear that allows you to distribute the weight similar to the pads we talked about earlier.
Lastly, there is a top compartment that sits above the laptop area that is broken into two separate compartments.
These are ideal for things like a laptop stand or a control vinyl.
All of these areas have an access port that a cable can be run through for things like charging and or listening to music with a headphone set.
I’d avoid charging your laptop through it since there’s pretty much no ventilation, however, if you’re about to go on and need to quickly charge while on the plane or something, it’s not the worse thing in the world in an emergency.
Front Face Pocket
The front face of the bag has a laptop area that is quite large. This space is big enough to hold a small controller and a pair of small mixers. It’s divided into two areas, both held together by four straps that keep everything from moving around.
The pocket is super versatile and can be used for a number of different things. You can even add a padlock for that extra bit of security if you’re feeling it.
Side Pockets
On either side of the main front pocket are two tall side pockets. These are ideal for holding a set of cables or something you’re trying to quickly grab. They both have a net pocket that sits above a large orange pocket, with the left side being great for small things (like keys or cards).
Front Velcro Pocket
The front also carries two more pockets, both of which host two velcro straps for holding pens and cables. There’s also a velcro mini bag that can be used for holding audio interfaces as well as some batteries (or even change and some pocket money if you don’t need it).
